Product Review/Giveaway: Wholesale Keychains Pink Digital Photo Keychain

I was so excited when I learned that WholeSaleKeychain.com was sending me a Pink Digital Photo Keychain to review.

I have wanted a digital photo keychain forever but could never justify spending the money. I have given many to friends and family as gifts over the years and was always a bit jealous when I'd see someone who had one.

This keychain retails for $9.99 and you can have it engraved for an additional $5.99 which really makes for a nice gift.

Let me tell you a little bit about the keychain's specifications before I get into my review.

Main features:
  • 1.5 inch 128x128 LCD display;
  • 4.8 MB internal memory which can store about 72 pictures;
  • Auto / manual picture slide show, slide time adjustable.
  • Manual switch between picture and time display
  • Time display including date, week, hours, minutes and seconds.
  • Time manual adjustable or sync with computer via software.
  • Picture format: JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF;
  • Picture size automatically cut by software.
  • Input / output picture via photo View software which contains in the attached CD
  • Built-in rechargeable battery
  • Charged / data downloaded via 5 pins USB cable
  • Dimension: 5.5x4.1x1.2cm
  • Weight: 85g
Package contents:
  • 1 x Photo Frame with key ring;
  • 1 x USB cable
Okay, so now that you know how much it is, where to find it, and what it is/does let me tell you what I think of it.

First of all, I was a bit disappointed in the overall appearance of the keychain. The pink plastic looks and feels a bit cheap to me and I'm not a fan of the square display on the rectangle body. With that said, the plastic has withheld being tossed around in my bag, being dropped on the sidewalk, and actually survived me accidentally stepping on it. This has outweighed my dislike for the appearance because being sturdy enough to survive my life is more important than being shiny and looking expensive.

The keychain was fairly easy to use and load photos onto. I say fairly easy because for some reason it would not allow me to access all of my photo folders from the menu but it was super simple to add photos from the folders I could access. I'm sure if I played around with it a bit more I could have figured out how to access the other photos but honestly, it was a bit of a hassle and I just couldn't bother. Will I do it in the future? Definitely! It just wasn't in the cards these past few weeks. The menu on the keychain and the buttons are super simple to use and figure out without the need to read the instructions which are provided and are also easy to follow. I actually think that my mom would be able to figure this out, and she's not very tech savy so that says something.

Now, the picture quality did not impress me. I wasn't disappointed or upset with it, but it didn't blow me away. The sample photos that come preloaded on the keychain look AMAZING. So there is definitely the possibility for photos to look great. Mine however, did not. I uploaded different file sizes from high resolution wedding photos to camera phone photos just to get an idea of image quality. They all looked the same to me.

Bottom line: Would I recommend buying this product? Yes! It's great to have on my keys to show people pictures of my puppy and kitties and all the other silly things I take photos of.
Would I give it as a gift? Maybe, but only if it were for one of my nieces or my nephew. They would probably love it and for the price it would make a nice little stocking stuffer or "extra" gift to top a birthday or holiday present with.
